Love or something like it

Table for two

Hello lovers and others. I hope you’re allowing your light to shine bright. I’m listening to Black Girl Magic by Londrelle while I gather my thoughts.

So, life. The upcoming Valentine’s holiday usually gets me in my feels. This year is a little different though. I’ve been overwhelmingly busy with finishing my last semester and I’m cautious of who receives my energy. I know I sound like a broken record when I say this but, not everyone deserves my time. And damn sure not a man who doesn’t have plan. Which leads me to two points: don’t settle for a damn holiday and treat yoself!

A majority of my close friends and I are in the same boat. We’re all single, occasionally dating, saying no to good men and yes to assholes. A few were upset because they had no plans on Valentine’s Day and didn’t want to spend it alone. Queens, listen, a holiday should not dictate your worth. You’ve spent your whole life in school, working, and building yourself. You’re seriously going to question if “you’re good enough” because you didn’t get a stuffed bear and stale chocolates? Do not devalue yourself because of materialistic things or nonexistent emotions from your crush that you’ve been blind to the other 364 days. This Valentine’s Day, try loving you. All the love that you’ve been looking to find, has been inside of you the whole time.

Yours in love,
